Week 2, thing#10: Avatar Creation

Week 2, thing#10: Image Generator

I found "Letter James" is a good image generator site which is easy to use and has many good photos. I am not very impressed with "Generator Blog", especially the instrution and guides are confusion.

Week 2, Thing#9: RSS Applications

I think copy and paste RSS feed icon in the reader is the most efficient way to get updated news feed. The kay is not overdo it. Developing a good layout and organizing them in an efficient way is also important. Feedster is still under construction. Technorati' blog directory is a useful tool but search is really slow. I found it is easier to find news feeds than blog feeds. Topix.net is an interest site to get latest news and blogs on many subjects while syndic8 is a good one to find feeds on various topics.

Week 2, Thing#8: RSS

Most links are broken and tutorials on original posting in 23things are outdated as of 9/26/2011. I think Bloglines has totally redone its interface with better tab function for organization. Many RSS feeds in LJ are outdated also. I think RSS feature is great for getting updated information on interest topics in one place. The trick is to organize the pages in such a way you will not be overwhelmed by information. Also now you need to set a public page through "Enable" function by Netvibes/Bloglines account. My public page address is: http://www.netvibes.com/nationfrank

Week 1, Thing#7: iPhone 5 is coming

To general public, no product is more exciting than iphone which you can use surfing the web, playing online games, taking pictures and zillions of other activities if you download enough apps to do all the task. As October gets closer, iPhone rumors get louder and louder. According to The Times' Nick Bilton, "an engineer familiar with the new iPhone" told him it would be "fairly different" than the iPhone 4, with an 8-megapixel camera and an A5 dual-core processor. Furthermore, Bilton writes that sources told him that either this phone or the next one will contain a telecom chip made by Qualcomm which includes near-field communication (NFC). This turns the phone into a so-called "digital wallet," that can be waved over a sensor to make a credit-card payment. Google's Nexus S phone already has NFC built in. I think the new iPhone should be quite attractive: it will be light, yet much firmer than Samsung Galaxy phones which are backed in plastic. The camera rivals point and shoot cameras and will be a major marketing point for this device.

Week 1, thing#2: Thoughts on Life Long Learning

Watched webcast about 7 1/2 habits of highly successful learners. It's easy for me to learn things through various means including leisure reading and playing but difficult to reach a goal within certain time frame.

Week 1, thing#1: Getting started

It took me about 30 minutes to go back and force from MCPL instruction to Maryland 2.0 postings to get the right information.
